The Shotgun and the Billboard

This New Orleans shotgun home is collapsing as a corporate billboard rises up from it’s foundation, becoming a metaphor for society as a whole. Our habitat has been taken over by advertising, we are constantly barraged with corporate messages telling us what we need and what products to buy. Despite the amount of money, time, and resources put in to advertising, it serves no practical purpose towards improving the living condition of the 99%, or the environmental state of our planet. So we must ask, what could we accomplish as a society if we were to redirect the resources wasted on advertising into social programs? What could we do with the public spaces that would be freed up if advertisements were no longer occupying them? The possibilities are endless.
